從營養學的角度來說，貓不會從牛奶中獲得甚麼營養， 奶對牠們來說只是一種特別高卡路里的零食。加上， 牛奶中有很高的乳糖（糖份）和駱蛋白（蛋白質）， 高於貓能接受的分量。 貓在斷奶後沒有那麼高的能力去分解牛奶中的糖份和蛋白質， 牠們的腸道裏沒有一種叫乳糖酵素的酵素，因此當牠們喝牛奶後， 攝入的糖份有機會引致腹瀉、脹氣和放屁。所以我並不建議你喂牛奶 給你的貓。
DR. PAULINE SAYS: Nutritionally cats do not get anything special from cow’s milk. Milk is really just a high calorie treat for them. In addition cow’s milk is loaded with more lactose [sugar] and casein [ protein] than most cats can handle. Cats’ bodies after weaning do not have the same ability to break up the sugars & proteins in milk, they do not have an enzyme called lactase in their gut, & as a result the ingested milk sugars can cause diarrhea, bloating and farting in cats drinking cow’s milk. I really don’t recommend you feed your cats cow’s milk.
